What the research says

Omega-3 Fatty Acids (EPA & DHA)

Evidence tier: Moderate-to-Strong (at studied amounts)

What it is: EPA and DHA are long-chain omega-3 fats found in oily fish. The body makes them only in small amounts, so most of what it uses comes from food or supplements.

What the research shows: A dose-response meta-analysis of 71 randomized controlled trials (4,973 participants) found that EPA and DHA intake was associated with modest reductions in blood pressure, with the clearest effect at a combined intake of 2 to 3 g/day. Effects were stronger in older adults and in people who started with higher readings, and smaller in people already in a healthy range.

Typical study dose: 2 to 3 g/day of combined EPA and DHA showed the clearest effect across the pooled trials. This describes what the studies used, not a recommended amount. This formula supplies 720 mg of omega-3s per softgel (432 mg EPA and 288 mg DHA), which is below that range.
